About Me
My name is John Bertang and I'm a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). I work with clients ranging in age from 10 years and up who experience a wide variety of issues. I have been in the Myrtle Beach area for many years and have had the pleasure to work in this community, volunteer, and help be a small part of what makes this area what it is today. As a First Responder and educator, I know the difficulties, challenges, and stresses that this profession can have on your personal and professional life.
My most current masters degree is in Mental Health Counseling from Webster University. Having been to counseling myself, I have experienced some really good therapists and others whom I did not resonate with. My goal is to provide the best possible service and work around your schedule to provide the professional assistance you are seeking and deserve. I am very fortunate in that I have had a second career and do not rely on counseling as my source of income: Translation--I do not need to see clients all day to pay my bills! If we meet and we do not resonate or are not the best fit, allow me to help get you to someone who can better assist and serve you! People helping people...isn't that what life is really about?
I have two additional masters degrees--one in Management and the other in Human Resource Development. My bachelor's degree is in Criminal Justice and my two minor degrees are in Psychology and Sociology. I have a laundry list of trainings, classes, life experiences, awards, and other achievements which I believe have better prepared me to provide my clients the best possible attention and care.
Having suffered from anxiety and depression myself, I know what it is like to feel that no one understands what you are going through. It is tough to ask for help because we feel that we are the problem solvers of our community. Asking for help used to be a sign of weakness--it is now a sign that we are just human and trying to make it through life the best we we know how. I get it. Let's talk...
