My Approach
Every client is different. Each treatment plan, length of therapy, and session is customized to your issues, your personality, your commitment to therapy, and what works best for you. I am judgment-free and seek to understand your problems through your lens and your worldview. My job is not to give advice and tell you what to do or not to do. If you choose to seek therapy with me, we will make sure we are a good fit and get down to business. My goal it to help you with skills, techniques, and have a better understanding of yourself so that you are empowered to make actionable changes in your life to live a more rewarding, enriched, healthy, and productive lifestyle (however that looks for you), if you choose. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) as my treatment approach--that is a fancy term for identifying how thoughts, feelings, emotions, and behaviors are linked and how you have the power and control to choose to think differently which can lead to different (better) outcomes.
As First Responders, we often worry about bosses and the public knowing what is 'wrong' with us...I value and respect your confidentiality and will not and cannot violate it unless I reasonably believe you are going to harm yourself or someone else. I respect your confidentiality so much that I generally do not acknowledge my clients if I see them in public unless they initiate or approach me. Your treatment is my/our priority...
Depending on your needs, we will generally have weekly sessions and taper off as we agree or feel necessary. I offer telehealth (video sessions) for times that you are unable to make it to session due to being out-of-town, weather, a pop-up crisis arises, or merely if life gets in the way. I get it. Let's talk...
